True Religion & Real Life

Life isn’t always easy. Whether you’re at work, home, or just in your community, you see people struggling. Poverty isn’t just about money; it’s emotional, spiritual, and relational too. But God is always at work—and it’s Jesus who makes real transformation possible. You can’t do it alone. Only God, through the Holy Spirit, can bring about lasting change. And He wants to use you. Are you in?

Who’s Really at Work Here?

Read Philippians 2:13-16. God is working in you. He’s the one who gives you the drive to live for Him. When you surrender, He’ll do incredible things through you. Don’t limit what He can do—let Him move through you in ways you never imagined. Think about this:

  • How would you describe the people you interact with?

  • What struggles or challenges are they facing?

  • What assumptions do you hold about people who are struggling? How can you flip those biases?

What Are You Here to Do?

Whatever happens in your day, remember this: LOVE is your motivation. Don’t do things out of guilt or obligation. Do it because you care. That’s how Jesus lived—and that’s how we’re called to live.

True Religion Is About Serving Others

James 1:27 says true religion is about helping those in need and staying pure. But how does that fit into your life today? Think about this: if you have food, clothes, and a roof over your head, you’re richer than 75% of the world. And if you have some money in the bank, you’re in the top 8% of the world’s wealthiest. How does that make you feel?

Poverty—whether financial or emotional—is a reality God wants us to address. It’s a reminder to live with compassion and make a real difference.

How to Apply This:

  1. Why do you serve? Be real. Is it because you want to make a change, or because you feel obligated?

  2. What biases do you hold toward people in need? How can you shift your mindset and respond with compassion?

  3. How does understanding true religion challenge your faith? What does it look like for you to live out your faith, beyond church attendance?

  4. What’s your role in God’s plan? How can you serve others where you are right now?

  5. What’s one way you can show love today? It doesn’t have to be big—just make it real.

Pray:

“God, open my eyes to see the needs around me. Help me live with love and compassion today. Use me to make a difference.”

True religion isn’t about rituals; it’s about action. Let’s live out Jesus’ love today—in our homes, workplaces, and communities. The world needs it. Are you ready to step up?
